Call for Poems

An opportunity for poets to win money simply by creating poesy. Four Feathers Press announces another call for poems for a new anthology: THE POETRY LOTTERY 4. Submit a poem of 300 lines or less (including stanza breaks) to donkingfishercampbell@gmail.com by 11:59pm PST, July 15th. The cost of entering is $10, which will entitle you to one PDF and one physical copy of the chapbook. 100% of the money collected will go to one lucky poet, in a drawing to be held at the publication reading on Saturday, July 23rd, 3 to 5 pm at Truly Fresh J on 411 E Huntington Dr. in Arcadia. You do not have to be present, the reading will also be on Saturday Afternoon Poetry's Zoom. Get six months membership in the Four Feathers Press Book Club just for entering! (A $10 value.) Use Meta Pay (to Don Kingfisher Campbell), Venmo (@Don-Campbell-82), or Zelle (my email address) to enter...or, if you prefer, snail mail a check to: Don Campbell, 1313 Edgewood Dr, Alhambra, CA 91803-1909.

BTW: The winner of The Poetry Lottery #3 was Dan Garcia-Black! Here is his poem...

Wrong Number

Gasoline burns hotter than hell

And using it causes climate change

There are plenty of signs that

Earth is preparing humanity for an

Extinction level event

In the bible there's a revelation

That warns about the apocalypse

I look at today's gas prices

$6.06 per gallon

It's getting close to $6.66

Then it will be too late to prep

The anti-Christ will push the pedal

To the metal with the ghost of Lemmy

Riding shotgun

And all Hell will break loose like

An obese woman's spandex

After midnight on a shopping trip

For a large pair of crotchless panties

At the local Wal-Mart Superstore.

Amen.
