An opportunity for poets to win money simply by creating poesy. Four Feathers Press announces another call for poems for a new anthology: THE POETRY LOTTERY 5. Submit a poem of 300 lines or less (including stanza breaks) to donkingfishercampbell@gmail.com by 11:59pm PST, August 26th. The cost of entering is $10, which will entitle you to one PDF and one physical copy of the chapbook. 100% of the money collected will go to one lucky poet, in a drawing to be held at the publication reading on Saturday, August 27th, 3 to 5 pm in the patio behind Rosebud Coffee on 2302 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena. You do not have to be present, the reading will also be on Saturday Afternoon Poetry's Zoom. I could go off making donuts

on the just opened 6th St bridge

I could disappear amidst a crowd

and emerge with a new strain

I could produce a gun in my car

and get shot and killed by police

I could fly a plane into the ocean

and be rescued by beachgoers

(during the 2022 California Surf Lifesaving

Association Junior Lifeguard Championship, no less)

I could pay the rent or buy

a single Springsteen ticket

I could put my money through a machine and hope

a string of numbers will come my way (maybe)

No, I think I'll do the miracles I do

every day I wake up and hug my wife
